Our Stromboli Supper

Today Kipp asked if I would make stromboli. Of course! I love it when I find a recipe that people like, so I'm more than happy to cook!
(Let me know--I'll cook for you, too!)
First, thaw loaves of frozen bread dough and let raise.
(We thawed three loaves to feed our big crew.)

Roll it out into a large rectangle. Top with cheese first. (The grease from the cheese will help cook the inside of the bread so it won't be doughy.) Then layer with your favorite meat or veggie toppings. We used Canadian bacon tonight. Sometime I'm going to try peppers, broccoli, tomatoes, mushrooms, onions, and olives...that sounds fresh and good!
Next, roll it up lengthwise and form into a circle. (Tuck one end into the other.) Place seam side down on the baking sheet. Brush the top with olive oil before baking.
(This one is a little lopsided!)
Bake at 375 degrees until top is nice and golden. (around 20-30 minutes) Brush with a little more olive oil. Slice and serve with marinara or spaghetti sauce.
Results: BIG SMILES!

***Traditional Stromboli is made by layering slices of provolone and mozarella cheese with slices of ham, salami and pastrami. I've made it a little more "kid" friendly for our family!

We make these a lot too! My favorite inside is chicken with a spicy orage-y sauce with cheese. Mmmmmmm. I especially like the picture with all the cheese oozing out of the middle.
