Funnies for your Friday

Familiar phrase?
It certainly is around our house.
Lately, it's happened to have some particularly hilarious conversation surrounding it.

It all started at bedtime.

The boys still wear diapers to bed because they're not 100% comfortable without one.  Most of the time they are dry and wearing a diaper also helps them sleep in later...always a plus! (Guess that's my disclaimer so you won't judge me for still putting my four-year olds in diapers?)
Baths were taken, teeth were brushed, pajamas were almost on and then it happened:  we found only *1* diaper left.

Not wanting to go to the know, 8:30 seems sooo late and the two mile drive seems sooo far away...we had the boys call dibs on the diaper.  McClain shot his hand up and won!  Carson was slightly distraught.  "Ah, man.  I think I might need a diaper. I don't know, but I just think.  Ah, man."

So, being the kind, caring, compassionate, and resourceful mom that I am, I grabbed a pair of spidey undies and disappeared.  I came back with a magical fix for the night...

I started to put the special underwear on Carson.  He looked down and skeptically said, "Mom, is that one of your things?"

"No, it's not tonight, honey.  It's a special potty protector tonight!"

Carson believed me enough to just willingly put the underwear on and go to bed.

The next morning, Carson came running excitedly into our room.  He whipped down his pants, pulled out the "potty protector" and yelled, "HEY MOM, YOU WANT  YOUR PAD BACK?"

Words I hope to never hear from my little boy a.g.a.i.n.

Not to leave Cloe and McClain are two more HEY MOM moments.

McClain was dressing himself and so enjoying his new summer clothes.  He was talking about the colors and how they matched.  Then he looked at me and said, "HEY MOM, DO WE HAVE SHOES TO MATCH THIS OUTFIT?"  And that's when I knew I'd taken them to the mall one too many times this winter!

Cloe loves to watch Super Why on PBS Kids.  She was rambling on about her hair problems and she needed someone to come and solve them.  Then she gave me a grin and said, "HEY MOM, you can be SUPER WIDE and solve the problem!"  Wow.  Nothing boosts the self-image like a little Super Wide in the morning!

What are your best HEY MOM moments of the week?

Bwah-ha-ha-ha-haaaa! Nice one, Carson. Now I don't feel so bad that a couple of weeks ago Titus found a tampon in my purse, unwrapped it, pushed it halfway through the applicator, and was chewing on the cotton when I found him. I mean, if you can make your son wear pads, I can let mine eat tampons. --Jess

Hah! Too funny :)

I think most of my 'Hey Mom' moments take the form of 'Hey Mom, can you come wipe me?' or 'Hey Mom, Lauren peed on the floor.' Or 'Hey Mom, I think I'm ready to grow all the way up and leave you to be on my own, so just stop sniffing my head every time I pass, okay?'

I guess that last one might be just my imagination....

Hilarious! Not nearly as funny as your trio, but I got a good laugh this afternoon at the mall watching Ryan try to talk to the manequins, "Do you need to go potty? Do you go potty standing up like a big boy at the bathroom in the mall? Hey, I'm talking to you. Do you hear me? Hi, you look like Mommy" and on and on and on. Made me smile!
Your kids are great!
