Thrifty Thursday!

Thrifty Tip #23:  Reach out and show some appreciation with wonderful homemade treats!

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week.  As much as I would *love* to hand huge gift cards to all of the people who lovingly teach my children at school and church, that's not reality for our family.

We don't want their hard work and sacrifice to go unnoticed, though.  I've found that many of the teachers really enjoy a special homemade treat.  All it takes is a little ribbon or some inexpensive treat bags and almost any treat can look like it came straight out of a special bakery.

The cookies in the pictures from yesterday were all made for our teachers.  In case you haven't noticed, I *love* sugar cookies...particularly Amanda's Amazing Sugar Cookies!  It's our family's NUMBER ONE COOKIE RECIPE according to Cody and to me.  SO...guess you should try them!  (We don't actually rank our recipes.  Just this one!)

These cookies have been no fail for me!  The dough is easy to work with and bakes beautifully.  The icing is so smooth, shiny and professional looking.  I don't even have a fancy schmany decorating kit.  Just a ziploc baggie with the tip cut off!  (Can you guess what I want for Christmas?)

You can find Amanda's original posting of her cookie and frosting recipes here.  You'll want to take a peak at all her amazing cake and cookie creations!

What treats do you like to share?
